NewsOnABC - Remarkable flood coverage 10 January 2011
Though some of the shaking early in this video shows signs that it is, in fact, an amateur filming as Chalk Creek overflows, its videographer has been thorough in following the beginning of the flood. Capturing moments during this natural disaster that most news agencies would be thrilled to have, the video follows the moment that the creek begins flooding over its banks and into a parking lot below.
Not only has the video captured the progress from water infiltrating a parking lot to carrying away the vehicles on it, it shows the progress of someone trying to rescue an SUV from a similar fate and ends with the final damage that the Chalk Creek flooding has caused in the form of a multiple-car-pile up.
This video gives a glimpse at just some of the devastation that hit Queensland. In just a matter of moments, the creek began to rise and quickly became an overpowering force. After months of drenching rain, stories describing what the videographer has managed to capture in these four minutes became almost commonplace as waters overflowed their banks in January.
Water Conservation Tips
To preserve water we must all work together from simple water saving techniques such as turning off the water tap while shaving or brushing teeth to car washing, garden watering via water tank installation and water recycling techniques.
